Bloating is a body signal that you a) aren’t chewing enough, b) are eating trouble makers or c) need a boost of good bacteria. Here’s a basic checklist to keep gas & bloating at bay:
- Chew. It’s the MOST important step for healthy digestion. Chew your food until it’s “applesauce-texture” before swallowing. Aim for 15-20 chews per bite.
- Avoid Trouble Makers. Diet foods such as sugar-free gum/desserts/candy & the bubbles of carbonated beverages can cause bloat.
- Eat Good Bacteria. Build an army of helpful bugs in your gut. Aim to have yogurt, kefir, kombucha, kimchi, sauerkraut, pickles, tempeh or miso once a day.
