I used to be against body fat challenges! Until NOW. Read on…
With a little peer-pressure, I recently signed up for a body fat challenge with the Chicago CUBS coaching staff (I’m the CUBS nutritionist). Once I got my baseline measurement & have the end measurement in my calendar. Everything changed.
I got a whole new enthusiasm. I was already doing healthy lifestyle stuff with like 50-60% effort. Once I enrolled in the challenge and had the fun & supportive vibes of the group all doing this together…I started doing healthy things at like 90% effort.
Stuff like eating 3 balanced meals a day, drinking water, eating more veggies as snacks, not eating after dinner, swapping wine for kombucha, going out for more jogs, signing up for a few more gym classes. So still doing all healthy lifestyle stuff…just with more enthusiasm & effort.🎉 When the body fat challenge is over, I will have built up better habits and can assess what habits are worth keeping long term & what habits are feeling too intense and need to be ditched.
I used to think body fat challenges were for the body obsessed dieters and that they were just a quick fix. I always knew LIFESTYLE CHANGE was the only thing you could do to be a healthy person long-term. However, here’s the truth people are too scared to admit: LIFESTYLE CHANGE IS BORING. So I have the solution: NUTRITION SUMMER CAMP + CHALLENGE.
NUTRITION SUMMER CAMP + CHALLENGE is the perfect way to combine the FUN, GAME feeling of a group challenge + all that is right about wholesome lifestyle change.
Why do you call it Nutrition Summer Camp?
Summer Camps are all about fun activities + friends. That’s the VIBE and heart beat of this program. It’s NOT meant to be for body builders & competition. It’s about challenging ourselves with the support of a group & resources of an expert.
What actually is the “CHALLENGE”?
For the CHALLENGE we will be measuring BODY FAT. I’ll go over how & where to get your body fat measured in the KICKOFF CLASS on 6/21. PS: This isn’t a requirement that you do it! You can still benefit from class without measuring your body fat.
In addition to BODY FAT we will also:
- Do a before/after HOME FITNESS challenge. We’ll record before & after old school stuff like how many push-ups, jumping jacks, lunges you can do in 30 seconds + how long you can hold a plank.
- Get a neighborhood 5K WALK/RUN on your calendar. You can walk, run, or even sprint the 3.1 miles depending on your fitness level.
What actually happens in the ONLINE CLASSES?
Classes are 30-minutes each on Thursdays @ 8pm CT. I’ll email you a link each week to click…and you will enter in a LIVE chat room. You can see & hear me, but I can’t see or hear you so you can come to class in your cozy jammies if you want. I’ll have a FUN EDUCATIONAL NUTRITION TOPIC each week for 15-20 minutes…and then we will do 10-15 minutes of LIVE Q&A. You can type in any questions/struggles you have & I’ll answer them.
Can’t be there during class? NO PROBLEM! I’ll email you the REPLAY 2 hours after class. Here’s what we’ll talk about:

6/28: BEST MEALS & SNACKS. How to eat well without following fad diets! (suck it fads)
7/5: BRANDS. Learn what brands I love so shopping is easier.
7/12: DINING OUT/TRAVEL/PARTIES. How to stay on the challenge while enjoying REAL LIFE!
7/19: TRICKY SITUATIONS. Learn strategies to use for cravings, temptations & sabataging self-talk.
7/26: THE END!! How to stay motivated & on-track after the challenge!
Is there a specific diet & exercise plan given?
Yes, you will get exercise advice + meal/snack ideas. However, you will NOT get an exact DIET or EXERCISE PROGRAM that you MUST follow. This whole program revolves around creating LIFESTYLE HABITS, not strict dieting or rigid exercise routines.
This SUMMER CAMP is FOR anyone who:
-thinks the scale is dumb
-wants motivation of a group challenge
-is interested in eating well without dieting
